TRANSPORTATION
We are asking if you plan to use the Groome shuttle from
the Atlanta airport to Macon and when you will arrive so we inform Groome about
how many of our delegates to expect at what times. This will ensure that they
send enough vehicles.
We have put information about the Groome shuttle on the
conference web site at
http://2009.informingscience.org/getting_to_.htm The shuttle runs every hour
from 6:00 in the morning until 1:00 the next morning with shuttles every
half-hour during busy times. You do not need to make a reservation; just let us
know when you will arrive. You can find more information about their service to
Macon at
http://www.groometransportation.com/macon_warner_robbins.htm (Warner Robbins
is the name of an air force base near Macon.)
The cost for the shuttle is $32 one way plus $10 drop-off
fee to be taken directly to the hotel. Although Groome has had to raise the
drop-off fee, they will give our InSITE delegates a $5 discount, making the
total $37 plus tax (about $40) if you tell them that you are an InSITE delegate.
You can pay by Visa, MasterCard, or American Express credit cards or by cash.
HOTEL
Since the May 1 deadline has past, the Ramada Macon West no
longer guarantees the conference rate or room availability. If you have not yet
made your hotel reservation and wish to stay at the Ramada, please contact them
as soon as possible. The rate they now offer will depend on the type of room
selected and availability.
Information about the Ramada and other accommodations in on
the conference web site at
http://2009.informingscience.org/accommodations.htm
The Macon Convention and Visitors’ Bureau
www.maconga.org has information about hotels, as well as lots of other
information about Macon. Hotels shown under the I-475 menu will be the ones
closest to the campus. The Center has an excellent interactive map at
http://maconga.org/flashmap/ Click on the Accommodations button to see
hotels and motels. Move the map until you can see Interstate 475, which is on
the west side of the Macon. Macon College is just west of Interstate 475 on the
north side of Highway 80 (also called the Eisenhower Parkway) however, it does
not show on this map; the Ramada is just east of I -475, south of the Eisenhower
Parkway, on Chambers Road. If you do not stay at the Ramada, there are a number
of other hotels on Chambers Road as well as some others close by. Again, walking
from the hotels on the east side of the freeway to the campus is not safe
because of the freeway on and off ramps; we are providing shuttle bus
transportation between the Ramada and the campus during the conference.
Once you have made your travel plans, please update your
registration record (at
http://informingscience.net/reg/login.php or
http://tiny.cc/LogBackIn) with this information. For
Arrival Transportation select:
·
“Airline and Rent Car” if you will be renting a
car at the airport and driving to Macon
(Car rental is about $40-$50 per day plus insurance.)
·
“Airline then Groome” if you plan to take the
shuttle
·
“My car” if you will be driving to Macon.
